Have you learned the lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you? Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed passage with you?

New song "Ascension" available!

Posted by Rottenbeard - May 20th, 2009

My newest song entitled Ascension is now out for your listening pleasure. It's another heavy orchestral/rock progressive hybrid in similar vain to Turning Of the Tide, which has proved to be one of my most popular songs to date.

I'm noticing lately that it's become a real chore for me to actually finish songs. I have so many ideas, and I record them.. put them down, maybe finish a song half way, then I get a new idea and lose interest in my original song. It's actually kind of frustrating because i've got like 40 unfinished tracks sitting on my hard drive that with a little work could all be decent enough songs. Anyone else have this problem when writing music? It makes me want to kick my own ass. ;)

Yeah, actually, I have the same problem. I have maybe 10 tracks saved that aren't done. I don't know if it's that I'm too lazy, or if the songs were just not meant to be. Do I sound crazy?

That's actually something that's ocurred to me. I notice that I make a lot of unfinished songs, but ultimately, i'll use a little bit that I like from every song and then incorporate it into a new song which flows and finishes in a quick natural pace. My latest piece is a great example of this, with much of the main and end solo pieces being derived from at least 3 or 4 other half finished songs, haha.
